This studio is beautiful. Neli,Ivan ,Daniil and Maria are all spectacular dancers and wonderful instructors. I have been dancing for a little less than two years and am totally addicted! Everyone here feels that they are part of a team. We travel together and party together! Do yourself a huge favor and come!

Ivan & Nellie are excellent instructors. With no prior training, I took an introductory lesson package and Ivan expertly taught me the basics of 4 different dances! Wonderful couple, great experience, beautiful studio. Highly recommend!

No words could express how much gratitude I have for the team at Fred Astaire dance studio! My husband and I wanted to have a memorable first dance, so we decided to check out Fred Astaire to help us prepare for our first dance at our wedding. Neither of us have dance experience, but with just a few lessons with Neli, she was able to choreograph a wonderful first dance that didn’t feel too over choreographed and still felt natural. We felt so confident during our first dance (we’re still waiting to get the video footage back) which we CAN’T WAIT to see! Our first dance was one of my top favorite memories of our special day- so many of our guests were wowed by it!! I would highly recommend this studio to any couple looking to take lessons for their first dance. Neli- thank you for the time, energy and patience you showed us!!

If you are looking to join a dance community, Neli and Ivan have done a fantastic job in creating a friendly and fun environment to learn dance. There are group classes and dance parties every week that are fun to attend and a great place to learn. This is in addition to the private wedding dance classes that I have been taking with my fiancé. I am a very shy person and they are helping me with both my confidence and dance skills.

My fiancée and I started taking dance classes with Neli and Ivan for a few months now to prepare for our wedding dance. We started with absolutely no experience and thanks to our incredible instructors we have made tremendous progress in learning dance (especially waltz). The studio is absolutely gorgeous and the weekly dance parties make it so much fun to learn there.
If you want to learn dance - regardless of your experience or skill level - this is a fantastic place to do it!

Neli Petkova is a world class instructor- a world class competitor and also a first class person. She is friendly, inspiring, encouraging and really really good at her field- dance instruction.

I have known her since 2016. I met her shortly after I took an interest in ballroom. I had visited a few other instructors in the month or two prior, but she got me hooked and became my first real and main instructor, showing me all that is possible.

She focuses a lot on frame, as it is important. Many other instructors focus only on footwork and choreography. As little as I know of dance, I know that frame is what separates the amateurs from the pros, from those who look graceful and to those who don't as much. That said, dance is also about having fun. You will have fun with Neli but I have more fun when I am getting better and dancing well. If I am paying for lessons, I want to learn what is essential and be corrected and improved.

Her specialty is standard which is what my body type calls for and what my preferred style is.

She has been dancing from a very young age and takes instruction herself from some of the top instructors in the world. She lives and breathes dance and you can tell she loves her job, and despite her credentials and skills, she's just so friendly and easygoing. You cannot go wrong taking lessons from her.

The teachers at Fred Astaire in Bronxville are amazing. I started with no dance background at all, and today I am dancing at a Gold level. This is the best exercise, best workout, most fun hobby ever. I've lost 10 lbs since I started dancing! Ivan is a fabulous teacher and partner. The space is beautiful and it makes me happy to be there. Dance has changed my life... thank you Ivan!

How do I get started?

At Fred Astaire Dance Studios, all new dance Students can take advantage of our special money-saving Introductory Offer! Simply complete and submit the Intro Offer form on this website to get yours, and we’ll contact you right away to learn about your dance goals and help you set up your first Lesson. Once you discover how much fun ballroom dancing can be, we know you’ll be back for more!

How often should I take lessons?

We highly recommend that you schedule your Lessons close together, especially in the beginning. The less time between Lessons means the less you will forget, the less you will need to review, and the more quickly you will reach a confident level in your dancing. We also recommend private Lessons in conjunction with group classes and practice sessions, as it’s the most effective and efficient way for you to learn and stay motivated.

Is it difficult to learn to dance?

No, it’s not! Our Dance Instructors are all highly-qualified and welcoming professionals, who participate in ongoing dance training throughout their careers. In addition, our progressive system of instruction and unique trophy system make it easy for you to learn. It will take a bit of time to master the various dances and a repertoire of steps, but a steady approach with periodic practice will produce visible results in less time than you’d think. We highly encourage you to keep your Lessons scheduled close together. You will progress more quickly, and it will make your experience more valuable to you. We promise: the learning is fun – and you will be on your way to confident social dancing after your very first dance Lesson!
